The Landmark Forum For Young People
Bringing forth the best of us as a family.

Jack Carruth, 11 years old.
Jack Carruth drilling at home. Before I did The Landmark Forum for Young People, I was stingy; I wanted to keep my money and my toys to myself. When I did the course, I learned that it was my “Point of View”. Now I am more generous to others. Sometimes I even share my money with my brother Josh!

Mattie Carruth, 14 years old.

Mattie Carruth on her horse, Zapata. The Landmark Forum for Young People is cool and fun. Before the Landmark Forum, I always thought that there is only one way to get something. I had wanted a horse then. I thought to buy it would be the only way to get it.

In The Landmark Forum for Young People, I did get it when they said: “that it is empty and meaningless!” My thoughts maybe didn’t mean anything…….. whatever. I went to the barn where they have horses and worked there. One month after I did The Landmark Forum for Young People, they gave me a horse. His name is Zapata. I love Zapata and I didn’t have to buy him!

Landmark Forum graduates Maryanne and Mike Carruth. We live in Tryon, near Asheville, North Carolina. At first I thought it would be such a challenge to travel to Boston in September 2000, to have Jack and Mattie (they were 10 and 12 years old then) do The Landmark Forum for Young People. All the organizing and preparations and getting the kids in shape! Yet once I got into it, all things worked out.

One morning, just like most married couples, I was having an argument with my husband, Mike. Mike went off to work angry and I was left at home just being miserable. Suddenly Mattie, my 14 years old daughter, told me: “Mom, you are making it mean something!” I burst out laughing and the day went on just great.

It has been very rewarding to have everyone in my family in communication, in relationship that makes a difference to each other.

Landmark Graduate Josh Carruth.I did the Landmark Forum in August 1999 in Atlanta, Georgia. Subsequently I have done many Landmark seminars in Charlotte, North Carolina and currently I am an Introduction Leader. I have accomplished many breakthrough results as I participate in various courses and programs from Landmark Education.  I asked my children to do The Landmark Forum for Young People because I love them and I want them to have the very best in their life.

Every one of my children has been positively impacted by the course. Mattie, who has created a novel way on her own to get herself a horse, now also works well with other children.  Jack, my youngest son, has showed up as an independent person and with lots of creativity after The Landmark Forum for Young People.

Josh Carruth in Tyrolean Traverse across a gorge. Josh, my oldest son, did the Landmark Forum for Teens  in Atlanta, Georgia. Before the course, Josh usually wouldn’t respond to my questions and used to be shy, withdrawn. Now our communication is satisfying and he is out there in the world and has held jobs since he was 14!

On the last day of the course I was in the room when Josh, then 14 years old, stood up and acknowledged his family and declared his responsibility to us. I was so proud of Josh and saw for the first time what a powerful young man he truly is, with so much depth, beyond the fact that he is my son! It was an awesome moment in my life that I stand for every parent to have in his or her life.

If I were to wish for anything, I should not wish for wealth and power, but for a passionate sense of what might be, for the eye, which ever young and ardent sees the possible. Pleasure disappoints, possibility never. And what wine is so sparkling, what so fragrant, what so intoxicating as possibility! Søren Kierkegaard.
