Landmark Graduates in Manila, the Philippines.

Honey Oliveros

How I quit escaping my own life
and transform it at the Landmark Forum.

It was the time of many transitions and changes in my life just before I did the Landmark Forum. I was in the process of moving out of Manila – I'd gotten sick and tired of the traffic, politics, my profession, and even my family. I was going to remove myself from all the “jerks” in my life too. I'd already actually taken a teaching job far away from the city and was ready to change my life – to make it more, better, and different.

Fortunately, in the midst of all that, I did the Landmark Forum ... and it totally blew me away. It was like a nuclear bomb leveling everything that I was complaining about to nothing. Instead of superficial changes in the circumstances I was treated to a true transformation of my life!

The people I'd cut off and given up on were suddenly appearing like new people that are quite decent and even great. All those years of making others wrong just got wiped out from me. Most importantly, I got my family back and the quality of my life – and, wonderfully enough, theirs – has never been the same. It was so impactful that my dad and sister also signed up for their own respective Landmark Forums!

But my favorite breakthrough was getting my own country back. I'd gotten so resigned and cynical about the Philippines. I lived through major attempts at changing how things were here and saw that it did not work. I had totally given my country up as “hopeless.” And I couldn't make a difference! In the Landmark Forum, I got to choose my country for everything it is and for everything it is not. That choice allows me to create what is possible for the Philippines, and, in the Advanced Course, we created the possibility of a country that works! Everything else I'm up to in life is inside of this new possibility and it deeply touched me.

Once the life of complaints and resigning to doing nothing was firmly left in the past, I stepped into the world of Landmark Assisting Program. I assist inside of the future I created in the Advanced Course: a first-world Philippines that works. The value I've gotten from the Assisting Program is tremendous.

Just like any Landmark Courses, anything I want for myself and my life is available in my participation in the Assisting Program. As one of the Landmark Introduction Leaders in Manila, I've gotten major breakthroughs in many areas of my life: my profession and businesses, finances, relationships, even my travels.

Unique from other Landmark courses, as one of the people who assist I have the awesome privilege to contribute - and I love to be partners with the Landmark community in the Philippines. We are indeed ordinary people with extraordinary commitment, and I am so happy that I did the Landmark Forum instead of running away from life.

If I were to wish for anything, I should not wish for wealth and power, but for a passionate sense of what might be, for the eye, which ever young and ardent sees the possible.
