Landmark Education in Japan

“A New Start”

Who we are, who we are for each other.

On Sunday, January 26 in 2003, at the Landmark Education Center in Tokyo, we held the New Year Event as is customary.  About 1,000 graduates participated in this event which was called “A New Start”. Jerome-san led the event with a great success. Graduates took a look and confronted whether they are victims of the circumstances or cause in a matter of the world at this event, and they created possibilities that they themselves are accountable for their future. All and each of us created our own intended outcomes for the year 2003.

The possibility of the work of Landmark Education in Japan was fully present in the room, as well as the extraordinary relationship of this work and the graduates in Japan. The Tokyo Center Staffs were very moved by how deeply Jerome-san understood Japanese People’s Kokoro (heart and spirit) and everyone was in awe as we realized he was leading "A New Start" from there.

After the event, given by the idea from Jerome-san, we had a formal party with both the staffs of Landmark Education Center of Tokyo and of Osaka and with over 100 volunteer partners for the first time. People wore kimono, hakama (men’s kimono), tuxedo and evening dress … their presentation was wonderful and everybody enjoyed the party.

It was an unforgettable evening as we celebrated the extraordinary relationship of our volunteer partners and our staffs, and every one was fully acknowledged. At the time of the award ceremony, we gave “the best dresser award” and “the best transformation award”.  But the most moving moments were when our volunteer partners gave Jerome-san a special award called “Hero in Kokoro of the Japanese”.

We created profound partnership to each other here, and the party was full of the possibility in terms of what this work of is to people.

Cheers, for this work of Landmark Education and who we are as a possibility.
