Causing the future of
transformation in Hong Kong
John Koh
I love Hong Kong. It is my home and
it is one of the most amazing places on earth, there is a real buzz in
the air. We are a vibrant place rich in heritage and well known for its
place and its influence in the global economy.
As I cherish the beauty of the Hong Kong harbor and see the joy of the
children, I am also keenly aware of the enormous challenges we face for
the future:
Will we make it work so that the environmental issues are solved
powerfully and the air is less polluted and the place remains habitable?
Will we deal with our educational system such that our children can also
have the joy of their childhood; or do we continue to saddle them more
extra hours of special study to get the grades but with an uncertain and
vague hope of a better future?
I do not know how it will play out. But I am clear of one important
fact. Whatever it is that will solve our problems, will require
transformation.
I am excited to let you all know that I have requested, and since
February 2010, was accepted to be the Point Person for Landmark in Hong Kong. We will now have further access to its
beneficial technology and transformation.
I invite the Landmark Graduates and the great people of Hong Kong to
participate with me to rebuild the Landmark Community and the future for
possibility in Hong Kong. Let’s complete the past, give up resignation.
To be and to realize the inspiring promise of the future we are
fulfilled. Today, Now, and as long as it takes.
In April 2005, I was going through a tough patch in my life, I did not
have a job at that time, and I was at a loss as to what to do. A friend,
who had done the Landmark Forum in Hong Kong, sent me an email, saying
that I should do it. I had not gone for an introduction, I really knew
very little about it. I had registered on my friend’s recommendation. I
was curious and excited about doing the Landmark Forum, but really had
no idea what to expect.
As I did the Landmark Forum, I
watched with amazement when my fellow participants and I went through
conversation after conversation to finally begin to deal with issues
that matter deeply to each of us, which until that point we have been
resigned about. And most likely, we did not even know it.
On Sunday evening, I was so blown away by Landmark Forum and by the
realization that the limits of my life, as I had known it up to then,
were over, gone, that anything is truly possible. I looked around and
saw how people, just like me, are happy, freed up, reconnected with life
and their loved ones and others.
Before the Landmark Forum, I was always getting angry and had a short
fuse. After the Landmark Forum, I am so much calmer. I am able to deal
with any situation powerfully and without getting upset or frustrated. I
don’t have road rage any more!
The most profound transformation from the Landmark Forum is that I got
my father back. I had not spoken to my father for over 10 years, as I
was angry with him about something that happened when I was a teenager.
After the Landmark Forum I called him and told him that I was sorry and
that I loved him. And you know what he said? “Its OK. You were young
then, you did not know what you were doing”. I was so deeply touched by
his generosity and love.
Most impactful result from the Landmark Forum – my wife and I were on
the verge of a divorce. Things were not working out and we just could
not seem to get beyond it. That is totally transformed. We are now
celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary this year, and we are so
present to our love for each other. In the Landmark Forum, I created the
possibility of being committed to my wife having a great life, whatever
happened, and to loving her fully.
Landmark is an
organization that is committed to operating with integrity – this makes
it an exceptional organization. And that it provides programs of such
exceptional value, and it is constantly evaluating itself so as to be
able to deliver that value.
Landmark delivers
products that enable and equip people rediscovering our own natural
ability to having our world work – that is inspiring for me. I know that
many of you in Hong Kong feel the same, I call for your partnership,
participation and support.
