Landmark Forum in Singapore:
Delivering Freedom and Power to what matters for the people.

June Tangsakul

My name is June Tangsakul and I am originally from Thailand. In 1999 I come to Singapore when I received a scholarship for a bachelor degree course in Mechanical Engineering. I have since made Singapore my second home.

I got introduced to the Landmark Forum by a colleague whom I know through a student organization back in the university. When I attended the Introduction to the Landmark Forum, the Introduction Leader spoke about the distinction past, present and future. I see what was really possible for me in that presentation. A new possibility was born at that moment for me: to have a career that I really wanted.

I did held back when invited to register, as I did not want to spend the money. However, I signed up on that day thinking it would be worth taking a chance just to explore that possibility that I just created.

Before the Landmark Forum, I worked as an engineer with a really great company. I was excited with the challenges and learning opportunities and I was contented with that job. However, what I really wanted was to pursue a career in a rather new specialized area called Human Factor Engineering. The problem was that I did not have the qualification to enter the field. There was also a risk since I was pretty new at the job, I did not know if the company and my boss would approve. Then it seemed to me that there just was no way I could handle both work and study at the same time.

When I did the Landmark Forum, I was astonished to learn all the things that were in the way for any human being to move forward. All those transparent, unconscious decisions I made and negative comments that I have lived with for so long suddenly become clear and apparent. I got to see things that were hidden from me. That I did not think I was good enough for anything that I really want. That it was easy to not do anything rather than confront and give up my fear of failure.

In the new view that was presented to me in the Landmark Forum, I had a choice of who I can be and what to do with myself and my life. I could just cruise through life unconsciously and explained it away as I had done, or take it back and live a life that I love. The Landmark Forum has given me the tool not only to invent new possibility, but also the tools to make it real.

Three months after the Landmark Forum I put myself into the masters program. I shared openly about my career plan and won the full support from my boss. Using distinction integrity, I was fully engaged in work and study and still have time for family and personal activities like exercise and socializing with friends. The results came as great surprises. I got straight A’s for all my courses on top of taking on bigger portfolio at work. As was promised, the result of the Landmark Forum was immediate and relevant to what I want for myself.

Half way into the masters program, 1.5 years after the Landmark Forum, I was offered a job as Human Factor Specialist in the same company. In making this possibility into reality, I have to mention the Landmark Introduction Leaders’ Program. This most valuable 6-month program provided a structure for me to continue to bring what I got from this education to different areas of my life, as well as making sure that I did get the career that I want.

Landmark Forum gives me access to achieving what I never thought was possible before - having work-life balance and pursuing my interest. In the same way, human beings can experience and then realize their limitless potentials. This is what inspires me the most about this education.

I enjoy participating in Landmark Education Assisting Program as it gives me the opportunity to make a difference to people by sharing what I got from this education. Through the Assisting Program I also get the privilege to interact with other graduates and staff of the Landmark Education. It is a very special community of people where each and everyone is appreciated and known as the contributions we are to fulfilling our common and personal concerns and for full self expression

I’m truly moved by the commitment that the staff and fellow graduates have for participants- their friends and relatives, to get the benefits from this education and to be nothing but great.

If I were to wish for anything, I should not wish for wealth and power, but for a passionate sense of what might be, for the eye, which ever young and ardent sees the possible. Pleasure disappoints, possibility never. And what wine is so sparkling, what so fragrant, what so intoxicating as possibility! Søren Kierkegaard.
